Well, it's finals time again.
I changed how I do my finals. I actually gave them a paper final. I had to switch things up because my classes at one school ended a week early, and I had to turn in grades a week early.
Oh.. My... Goodness...
I got them posted on time.
Ready for the next class' finals. Donuts, juice, and the final.

Sometimes You Gotta Teach in Green Socks
Well,
today was fun. It rained most of the
day, which meant I had to drive to my schools in the rain. I hate driving in the rain. I spent my full lunch time sitting in the
car, watching comedy videos on YouTube as I waited out the rain.
When
I went to my last school, I had to cross the river. So, it was the street, but the water was high
enough that I was wading through water.
My left foot got wet; shoe, sock, and feet. My right shoe only got wet. I was miserable and cold when I got into the
building. The secretary let me borrow
her floor heater for a few minutes. That
warmed me up, but I still had a wet left foot.
I
asked the nurse if she had a pair of socks.
Thankfully, she did. Went to
class, fussed at them for being so disruptive, got them writing their in-class
essay, then changed into the socks.
I
taught class in striped green socks (no shoes).
Mind you, I didn’t have on anything green. My color scheme was brown and yellow.
I’m
a fighter. I’ma make it do what it do!

Talking About Sensitive Subjects...
Today in 1301 (three times), I discussed the quote for the Explanatory Quote essay we wrote today. It was a hard day.
The Quote: Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are. -Benjamin Franklin
When I was reviewing the lesson for this week, the only things that kept popping into my head as I thought about this quote was the Botham Jean case. It was heavy in my spirit to discuss this with the class as an example of the quote. I couldn't get it out of my spirit. It was hard.
------ ------
It had me in tears, amongst other emotions in the front of my students. I ain't even like that. I don't like discussing sensitive topics in my classes. But, if my tear filled discourse inspired one student to think differently about police brutality, then those few minutes of emotion was worth it.
